NSEJS (National Standard Examination in Junior Science) is the preliminary selection stage of students in the Junior Science Olympiad Programme. Students who qualify this stage are eligible for other successive stages in the International Junior Science Olympiad Programme. This exam is held at many centres all around the country.
Organizing Body
The NSEJS is organized by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT).
Who is Eligible?
Students who wish to apply for NSEJS must fulfil these eligibility criterions:

He/she should be an Indian national, born on or after 1st January 2001.

He/she should be in class X or lower
NSEJS Exam Date
The NSEJS exam is usually held in the month of November every year. The dates vary from year to year.
Test Structure
NSEJS is a multiple-choice exam with major emphasis on the science subjects, including biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. The based are based on the understanding of the subject and the concepts/topics.

Syllabus
The NSEJS syllabus is the CBSE curriculum up to Class X.
Applying Ways and means
First and foremost, check if the school is a registered centre of IAPT. If so, students can enrol their name for the exam by paying the required fee.
If the school is not a registered centre, visit the official website of IAPT www.iapt.org.in that displays a list of the centres nearest to you. Locate your centre and enrol your name for the exam at the centre by paying the exam fee.
Exam fee: The fee for NSEJS is Rs.100 per subject per student, which is to be paid to the coordinator of the respective centre in charge.
Selection Ways and Means
Students who score greater or equal to the MAS (Minimum Admissible Score) are selected for the stage II. About 300 students are selected for stage II.
Result Date
The NSEJS result is declared in the last week of December or first week of January.

National Top 1% students in each subject are awarded a Special Merit Certificate and a prize

Top 1% students in every state, in each subject are awarded merit certificate

Top 10% students from each examination centre are given a certificate
Tips for Exam Prep
Practice sample test papers as much as possible. (Go through last 3 years question papers)
Many questions are based on logic rather than calculation. So practice accordingly.
