A Glimpse of the Roundtables
Getting Started With The 1st Princiapls' Roundtable
First Cohort of Educators/Principals came together for the Round Table to discuss and work together for UNESCO'S GLOBAL MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY Week 2021 from 24 to 31 October and further.
The Principals had an insightful online brief about Media and Information Literacy and how our communication is impacted in an ever-evolving digital media by Mradula Singh, Founder, NexSchools. She also explained at length the role of social media, mental health, and the impact of lack of MIL skills are all posing problems of misinformation and disinformation, fake news etc.
The house also thought the capacity building of educators and school leaders is critical to educate young students.
Captain Dr. Dinisha Bharadwaj Singh, Principal, GIIS, Kualalumpur, Malaysia participated in the discussions gave concrete suggestions. Her enthusiasm to work in this direction was evident from her engagement in the various activities.
The house agreed and in one voice to the urgent need to bring a curriculum-based approach. Vishakha Gupta, Principal from Beacon Internation School, Pune, India extended her full support for taking forward and engaging the education community in various initiatives in the future for NexSchools.
In conclusion, Mradula Singh added, “Learning is digital so are the online dangers, let’s make cyber safety palatable to children. For this educators must prepare and plan ahead."
The Roundtable is now joined by more and more school's heads to share learn and inspire to make cyber safe school culture.
The Roundtable on 22 October 202, was attended by the Venkatshewar Global School's Princiapl Ms Kavita Soni and Sr. Wing Headmistress Ms Preeti Phutela aong wih Samskar School's Director MS Madhumitha Aluri.
There was very candid conversation about cultivating children's online safety and ethical cyber behaviour within the online classes and also during the post-pandemic period beyond. The school also shared the expreriences which clearly indicates that it is time to go beyond lectures and just interactive talks to deep delving solution.
The NexSchools appraoach to tackle the challenges of ever evolving internet with the curriculum based solution was well appreciated.
