Dr Rupali Dhamdhere Principal of C M International School Pune. A teacher by heart enjoys her job thoroughly, loves to end the day by witnessing the students go back home happy and looking forward to coming back the next day
Joy multiplies when it is shared among friends, but grief diminishes with every division.
That is LIFE.
How very true, living in a diverse country like INDIA and being a part of one of the richest celebrated cultures in the world, this is the basics.
Are we drifting away from all these under the pressures of life…..and maybe unknowingly passing on the pressures and the lack of time to celebrate joy to our children.
Festivals act like stress busters and help us in balancing our emotions. Life is all about happiness and as human beings connected to society, social interactions with our family and friends bring not only happiness but help us to familiarize with our culture, learn new things, play and grow positively as individuals.
Together, We? Can Make #HappierSaferInternet
More positivity naturally lowers negativity. It also provides an opportunity to reduce friction and brings estranged friends and relatives together in a bond of love.
Nothing brings people together like festivals do. They play a pivotal role in nation-building; bringing people from every religious, economic and social background together. If we look at the fascinating journey of human evolution, we understand that human beings do not invent or create something unless it is required.
Festivals as far as they go have no specific origin……as social beings we came together and roughly that is how I guess it all started.
Celebrating events and festivals in schools has become an integral part of learning and building a strong cultural belief in a child. Children will remember an important day only if they are told about the importance of the celebration, the reason behind the celebration, the true objective and not just connecting it to a religious celebration. Students need to be taught to embrace and respect other traditions and cultures, which in turn give them a deeper understanding of the world around them….. a world without boundaries.
At C M International School we celebrate almost all national and international festivals along with all the important days. We believe in celebrating the festivals in school rather than just declaring it as a holiday. Each festival is celebrated with a lot of pomp and gaiety. The students along with the staff join the celebrations and the entire school is full of positivity and happiness.
Just to name a few festivals or days celebrated at C M International School;
Mud Day- Celebrated every year where students can get to actually play in the mud and understand its good qualities and it actually helps in motor and emotional development of children.
Ashadi Ekadashi- The festival of Maharashtra, where the students understand the importance of the tradition and the motive behind the long journey made by the warkaris.
National Sports Day - Celebrated in memory of Major Dhyanchand……where the students play all the local games like Kho- Kho, seven tiles etc and get introduced to these games.
Khadi Day- A homage to Mahatma Gandhi where students put up stalls of things made by them and invite parents for exhibition cum sale encouraging the idea of self-sufficiency.
Such celebrations not only bring the students together but also build a strong bond amongst them with a better understanding of the different customs.
Keeping values intact, CMIS wishes to offer the right kind of educational system which is based on moral ethics. The school strongly believes that education which has a 360 degree approach will allow the children to bloom, blossom and thrive giving them the right platform towards becoming responsible citizens of tomorrow.
Culture is widening of mind and spirit and if included along with education we are sure to have a better, strong, well-built nation.
