Leadership and Advocacy
HSIWeek’s success highlights the crucial role of protecting and guiding through UNESCO's Media and Information Literacy (MIL) framework. The ever-changing nature of the internet makes this a daunting task, but staying ahead of the curve by educating about cyber threats and predators is essential. To drive our mission forward, we have a dedicated team of experts in cybersecurity, media, academia, journalism, and youth advocacy on our Advisory and Advocacy Committee.
"To advance, we must equip young people to manage risks and leverage the internet positively," says Mradula Singh, Founder and CEO of NexSchools. Educators should stay updated on cyber safety resources and weave internet safety into their teaching throughout the year.
Expanding Horizons in the Past Two Years
In the last couple of years, HSIWeek has broadened its reach and impact, covering a wide range of areas and activities. Notably, the initiative has reached out to universities by establishing HSI Clubs and working closely with Youth Ambassadors. This expansion has created a larger community dedicated to making the internet a safer space for everyone.
Year One: Building the Foundation
In its inaugural year, HSIWeek underscored the growing importance of cyber safety amidst the unique challenges posed by the pandemic. The initiative promoted best practices to stay safe and spread happiness online among schools, teachers, parents, students, children, individuals, and organizations. The overwhelming response set a solid foundation for future endeavors.
The Wall of Support is filled with oficial support from both individuals, schools and organisatons along with amazing contributions from primary to high school children from across the country.
Cyber Safety Awareness Week has shed light on the many susceptible online dangers for children and schools, families and community. The week highlighted the need to integrate internet safety and new digital media tools including Media and Information Literacy into school’s curricula.

The HSIWeek 2021's success highlighted the greatest responsibility to protect students/children from all stakeholders. Ever changing nature of the Internet makes this even more daunting task, we must stay ahead of the curve by educating about the cyber threats and predators.
"To keep moving constantly we must prepare young people for minimising risks and maximising benefits; which is possible by giving more ways and examples to use internet for positive use", said Mradula Singh, Founder and CEO NexSchools.
Educators need to be well informed about the cyber safety resources and integrate internet safety into their curricula throughout the school year.
