The Emoji Mood Tracker provides an innovative way for teachers to tap into their students' emotional states, fostering a nurturing and empathetic classroom environment.

Activity #1 Create an Emoji Wall

The Emoji Mood Tracker is an interactive activity designed to help students express their feelings using emojis.

Objective:

To help students express their emotions through personalized emojis and use them to track their feelings in a fun and engaging way.

Materials Needed:

  • Paper and drawing supplies (markers, crayons, colored pencils)
  • Graph paper or a simple tracking sheet

Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Introduction to Emojis and Emotions:

  • Start with a quick discussion about different emotions. Ask students to shout out emotions they know (e.g., happy, sad, angry, excited).
  • Explain that emojis are fun pictures we use to show how we feel.

2. Creating Emojis:

  • Give each student a sheet of paper divided into seven sections.
  • Ask students to think of seven different emotions and draw an emoji for each one. Encourage them to make their emojis unique and fun!

3. Sharing and Displaying Emojis:

  • Once the emojis are drawn, have a mini-show-and-tell where each student shares their emojis with the class.
  • Optionally, display the emojis around the classroom to create an ‘Emoji Wall’.

Activity #2 Emoji Daily Feeling Tracking System for Students’ 

This is a simple activity which can teel you al lot about your students. Knowing students’ feelings can

  • Hand out a simple tracking sheet with three columns: Time of Day (e.g., Morning, Noon, Afternoon), Emoji, and Why.
  • Explain that they will choose an emoji that shows how they feel at three times during the day and write a word or two about why they feel that way.

5. Daily Tracking:

  • Each day, have students draw the emoji that matches how they feel in the morning, at noon, and in the afternoon.
  • Encourage them to write a short reason next to each emoji (e.g., "Happy - played with friends," "Tired - long math class").
