A cockatiel is a slender and long-crested Australian parrot. Lutino cockatiels have a white to yellow body, orange cheek-patches and a long crest.
The lutino cockatiel is one of the most popular pet. Even I have a cockatiel whose name is Coco. These birds are popular pets as they can easily fit into apartments and aren’t very high maintenance.
Cockatiels make good ambassadors for parrots.
After handling several cockatiels, I’ve noticed that every cockatiel is unique and every cockatiel has a personality.
Even Coco has his own traits. He is tender-hearted and a very affectionate bird. He cannot adjust to new things very quickly and gets frightened very easily. He hisses when he’s trying to warn anybody not to come to close but will never bite.
Cockatiels are curious birds and they see colour like other parrots and are fond of colourful toys. Every cockatiel should have a cage twice the size of their wingspan. Cockatiels enjoy interacting with their owner. Even Coco loves to be on his head. Coco’s favourite spot is to be on my shoulder as he feels safe when he’s on an elevation.
To keep Coco healthy, I feed him commercially balanced birdseed, fruits, vegetables, mineral blocks and fresh drinking water with some supplements.
