Dance is more than a sport , it’s my passion. I dance when I feel happy and I also dance when I feel sad. It’s not just some steps for me but it’s my whole life. Above all these points a question that comes in our mind is ‘WHAT IS DANCE’ ? Dance is nothing but expressing our feeling through rhythmic hands and leg movements. There are many forms of dances like Bharatanatyam, Mohiniattam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Kathakali, Odissi, Manipuri, folk dances of India and Hip-hop , Ballet, Salsa, Break dance, Contemporary, Jazz and many more.
Dance is not only about expressing feelings but Dancing can be a way to stay fit for people of all ages. It has a wide range of physical and mental benefits including:
• improved condition of your heart and lungs
• increased muscular strength, endurance and motor fitness
• increased aerobic fitness
• improved muscle tone and strength
• weight management
• stronger bones and reduced risk of osteoporosis
• better coordination, agility and flexibility
• improved balance and spatial awareness
• increased physical confidence
• improved mental functioning
• improved general and psychological wellbeing
• greater self-confidence
Dancing has been a huge learning experience for me and the influence it has had on my life, I will never forget. I have learnt teamwork as well as leadership. To me, Dance is more than just a beautiful art form. I can never get bored with it because there is always a room to improve.
At last I want to say, “Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance. Great dancers are great because of their passion”.
