Dyson sphere-the future of humanity
Humans have evolved completely in the past few millennia, the greatest discovery we did was of fire. Fire enabled us to:
-
Keep warm
-
Cook food, which increased its nutritional value
-
Keep safe from predators
-
Hunt in night
-
Make new tools
The discovery of fire was phenomenal, but now we industrialized, and we are using coal, gas, solar power, hydro power, nuclear energy, etc. Making a Dyson Sphere will be as much of an accomplishment as discovering fire was. Can you imagine? Fire led us this far from a hunter gatherer species, then imagine what a Dyson Sphere will do. For us, going out of the galaxy would become as easy as going to a holiday.
The Sun has great amounts of energy. We, at this rate, can capture only a meagre 1% of its total energy. A Dyson Sphere can capture all of it.
Can you imagine what would happen if we captured all of its energy? The word of the majorly successful film Star Wars would come true.
If using all of our available energy, we can launch only as much mass as mt. Everest in space. We need so much metal that we would need to disassemble the whole of mercury to get it, hey……Mercury! That’s the answer. If we send a team of robots to do work, with a team of engineers and repairmen to supervise, we can do it pretty simply.
ALL THE WORK CAN BE DIVIDED INTO:
First we send a few robots to do the grunt work and build a base with an oxygen recycler, the rest of the crew can be sent to mercury to build the rest of the robots. We need a few diggers to extract metal, a refinery to refine the metal (waste can be dumped into space) and a means to send them to the sun.
Now, what the structure would look like? A solid structure can fall into the sun and a meteor can smash it up, so all we need is a polished metal surface that orbits the sun and beams all the energy back. The first one gives energy to make the second one, then both work together to make four, and so on. Just in sixty doubling times the sun would be circled, and all we need to launch it in orbit of the sun is an electromagnetic railgun and a collecting center to receive; store; and use it for any purpose. This invention would be of as much importance as the discovery of fire would have been in the Stone Age. Our small and weak planetary human species would become interplanetary, and things like terraforming planets, making new colonies on planets and the like would become child’s play for us.
The only thing stopping us are the unnecessary political games, war between countries, drug trafficking , etc. are holding us back and once all this stops, and a Dyson Sphere is built, our only limit would be our own imagination.
