Billions of people celebrate together without borders, countries, race, colors and caste, cheers and jubilation for experienced and freshers - one extraordinary game joie de vivre and bundles of learning. Yes! IPL is Back.
IPL 2020 is back! In these corona times it will be a respite for all of us who are stuck at home - who follow the game of cricket from far or those who are die-hard fans. I am not an ardent follower yet I must confess watching Dhoni playing is a treat to my eyes. My thinking antennas are rising high as I am homebound in these pandemic times. I’m sharing a very different perspective of IPL comparing it with education courtesy my pandemic antennas.
Cricketing sentiment runs through billions of Indian hearts and around the world. When it is time for IPL the fever runs high. IPL takes us beyond the physical borders of the countries. All age-groups of players unified in one team. You see the veterans with experience abound and newcomers with fresh energy coming together with one aim to win the game. There is an audience to support adding to the euphoria, making it larger than any festival each year.
Euphoria and Fervor of IPL in Education
There is a perfect amalgamation of past, present, and future. Can this euphoria be created in education? Just imagine those who inspire get their own inspiration from the younger lot. The modern meets the traditional and alternative methods are blended into traditional. We see in IPL the past, present and future coming together as a team.
Engaged Audience as Students
This unconventional cricketing brings joys and emotions among millions of audiences sitting in the stadiums and others who are watching on virtually.
Collaboration Beyond Boundaries
The veterans are as important as the players who are currently playing in their respective national team and then there is scope for all the budding talent to show how capable they are.
Learn, Unlearn and Relearn
The combinations that Break, Builds and Combines, this unique BBC combination has given us new techniques, broken the old habits in fielding; the combination of old and new opened the opportunities to learn, unlearn and relearn.
Replenishing Talent Cycle
The new players get an opportunity and later they are ready with skills for the future team building.
Success with Stability
The success formula in the IPL has been stability; Chennai Super Kings were the pioneers in placing their faith in a trusted core group during their first stint, followed by Mumbai Indians who have three title wins. The trusted core group of teachers and support staff in schools can bring similar results to students' learning outcomes, safety, resilience and life skills beyond academics.
Isn’t this needed to create the perfect situation for our education?
Let all the veterans play an equal part as the educators who are shaping the future presently in schools and then let the upcoming talented ones join the team of educators to make that perfect team.
