During the 19th-20th centuries we became more industrialized. Industries started developing left, right, and center, there were oil booms, gold rushes, and technology advances. Now in the 21st century, as we enter the Golden Age of Technology, with new ideas and businesses, a lot of waste accumulates.
Industries don’t know where to discard them, so they let it go into the most abundant substance we have on Earth- water. As wastes get dumped into rivers, the rivers carry it past seas, gulfs, and other water bodies, into the ocean. This causes major food chain disruption, and a biome to be nearly destroyed. Many species are struggling to live with contamination and dirt. Many species die of accidentally biting or swallowing the debris.
All species have a place on Earth just like us, and we must respect that by letting them live freely in their ecosystems, without the worry of artificial hazards and chemicals. We must not let this continue. There are two solutions - Prevention or Innovation.
How can we prevent? We can use less and less wastes and make it to 0%
How can we innovate? We could come up with better waste management that will not harm the environment.
It is, of course, better to prevent, so in order to reduce supply and production, the demand must be lower. We should boycott products that would harm marine life and encourage companies to use less fossil fuels.
