Reality Check

A perfect ideal state one asks for. Daddy on a job break, children happily playing at home and the mommy making all those lovely dishes. What else one can ask for? A perfect vacation that each one of us dream of in today's world. Well, what's the reality? Indeed different is what I am experiencing.

Been waiting for this kind of family break for a while now. I took time off from my job then my children took off to get home schooled, ya I know they are too small to make that decision! And finally, the man of the family took a job break. It was all unexpected and we all left for Indore to attend the 5th annual Swashikshan unconference conducted for all the homeschoolers, unschoolers, un-jobbers, farming with family, minimalist family, family in a forest, family on a mountain, traveller family and what else? I really got to dig my mind to say what more kind of families I met. So yea that's the REALITY CHECK  I went through in those 5 days of unconference where I learned the fantasies I always had in my mind did really exist.

Meeting each family and knowing their story was in itself a thrilling goose bump giving experience. One has to believe in self and lead the life that is visible. I met families who are dreaming to live a life of what I am leading in a metropolitan city. An eco-friendly home, fully solar powered, zero waste out of the house, re-using water, growing own food, no plastic, no jazzy lifestyle and no to the current fantasized lifestyle. Well, I was bowled to hear that and I am here looking for much more than what I can think of.

So what is it then? We all have chosen a life that is off track than what is created by society or a community and tagged as REBEL. There was a time frame when people went through all these kind of lifestyles without choice and here we are craving for such a one now. Infact, few still exist leading this life with no choice. Poverty, tribal-seeking their identity- life in a forest, life with no money and yes the list goes on. I am sure there must be some connect then in that case. That surely summarizes that grass on the other side is for sure green.

Yea so finally coming back to terms, we are all here together at home and we all are so engrossed in our virtual worlds that what we dreamt of and what we experience is actually different. Well, that's the REALITY. The life today is quite a type and we all irrespective of our ages are living in our own fantasies. One has to seek happiness in what we have and what we can afford. Be it marriage, kids or anything related to family and its extension. Adding to this when I think about schooling and its relevance I still see stars at times as in so what is the REALITY? Our parents made choice of sending us to school so we are educated and are up to something in life. But we the new parents feel no school and no we don't really want our children to be up into something, but yes we definitely want them to be humans! That's the cycle of life that keeps rotating. We felt we never made sense going to school as what we work and what we learnt are not related. I am sure our next generation might quite feel the same by not going to school!

I have two small princesses running around at home and imitating us all the time and want to grow up quickly to do all those activities what we do, rather do it right away. When finally they grow up they feel oh! we are better of a child, rather that's what we feel now as grown ups. But irony is, we the parents, digging all graves to find those perfect answers that make us feel confident and make the right decisions for our children every time perhaps. This makes me think if it's just me alone thinking or it's all our gen parents are like this?

Connecting dots, we are talking about growing own food, millet diets, fireless food, simple living, no plastic, no waste, no school, no competition, no nothing. Do we really know whom are we really fighting this with? Yea that's our own family. Our gen is so accustomed to the modern lifestyle and the quick easy ways of getting things done- microwave, air- conditioning, airplanes, smart phones, social media. Oh wow! So my analysis is, we get overwhelmed with what we see in excess and then move away with it. It's kind of cycle again- sine wave. Check, check, Reality check. The moment of truth I witness every day, every moment?

PS: the complete views are my personal mind tickling games that I am currently going through the and hope to get some sense out of this one day. Perhaps an end as it's a game!
