India is an agrarian country with around 70% of people depending directly or indirectly upon agriculture various reasons have been registered to explain why farmers commit suicide in India.
Today farmers are filling neglected form society, the issue like flood drought, debt poor quality of speech and many more. compelling the farmers to commit suicide are required to be paid attention immediately, as the farmers toil tirelessly to produce grain for us without which we can’t survive.
In recent times the statistics have depicted an alarming rate of the incidents of farmers committing suicide. In India which has become a matter of grave concern. If we fail to give timely attention to this growing issue, the situation may get even worsen and the nation will have to pay very grave socioeconomic loss.
All people have to understand the main reasons why farmer are committing suicides. It is due to liberalization and globalization that the imports of food grains are at cheaper prices and on other side farmers are forced to burn their ready crops. The reason why they are doing so is that they are not able to get good price for their crops and sometimes the overall price which they get after selling their harvest fall far lower than the total sum invested by them in farming.
Poverty, penury and the amount of the loans taken by them for harvesting doubled with the rising interest on their loan amount eventually push them and their entire family to commit suicide. So, I think government should take some steps to overcome the above problem and our farmers can be saved.
